THE XAVIER DIFFERENCE
At Xavier, we believe that children and adolescents who are seen and heard grow into capable, compassionate adults, so we tend to the entirety of each student, from their academic curiosities to their creative pursuits. What ultimately sets us apart from the typical classroom setting is our individualistic, hands-on approach to learning.
Our unique educational approach includes our students gaining experience in and outside of the classroom. Our rooftop garden and partnership with the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center helps us create an interactive learning environment for our students. We are also proud to offer educational field trips, locally and globally, for our students to experience year-round.

OUR HOLISTIC APPROACH
Each student at Xavier is here for a reason: to attain the best possible education that meets his, her or their individual needs.
In order to best serve our students, we meet each student where he, she or they currently are. We build them up based on their strengths and intervene through mental health and wellness best practices if and when we recognize it would benefit our students.
HOW WE SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS

OUR HOLISTIC APPROACH
A happy, healthy student is a student who is better prepared to learn, grow and thrive. This is exactly why our curriculum incorporates social/emotional skill-building and individual efficacy, along with mental health support. ARROWSMITH PROGRAM & NEUROFEEDBACK
We offer a range of opportunities to help shape the way our students’ brains function for the better. Learn more about our partnership with the Barbara Jordan Arrowsmith Program and our student's success through neurofeedback here.

POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY
We know how difficult it is to achieve the coveted “good life.” And, we know that we can build our students up by focusing on their strengths and skills. Learn more about our positive psychology coursework here.

WELLNESS
Physical wellness is also integral to our students’ learning. We know that a well-nourished body facilitates a well-nourished mind. Learn more about our wellness programming here.

FAMILIAL SUPPORT
Our social/emotional support does not begin or end with the classroom. In fact, we support many of our students by supporting their families, as well. Learn more about how we support families here.

LIFE OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
One of the major components of life at Xavier is how we prepare our students for and support them through their lives outside of Xavier. Learn more about the many ways we help our students develop outside the classroom here.
ANNUAL TRIP OPPORTUNITIES
Every year we give our students the opportunity to experience educational trips around the globe. A few of our destinations from the last few years include, Costa Rica and Galapagos Islands where students experienced fun and exhilarating activities for memories that will last a lifetime.

ROOFTOP GARDEN
Our unique rooftop garden, grown and maintained by our students, provides an innovative way of learning for Xavier. Students learn the fundamental of gardening with unique techniques such as Aquaponics, while also getting some fresh air and a break from the typical classroom setting.
HOUSTON ARBORETUM & NATURE CENTER
Xavier Academy is conveniently located next to The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, providing easy access for our teachers to take students on fun and educational trips to explore the nature and science of our backyard.

LOCAL FIELD TRIPS
We love taking advantage of being located in the heart of Houston by taking our students on educational trips around the city. A few of our favorite spots include the Houston Zoo, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Space Center Houston and The Health Museum.
